So Biggles shouldn't be burning ticks off with the end of his cigarette?

I just pull 'em off - my fingernails are just as good as any tick hook.

We used to have a pet chicken that would come to call, rush up and take the unexpected treat from us in response to "Pru-dence! Tickytickyticky". Unfortunately our current fowl takes so long admiring them that they crawl away, so we have to kill them ourselves and he misses a treat.

Toss up as to whether this should go in "Weather" or here. But since it's about OZ, I've chosen 'here'. A good lecture on the Monsoon that is worthy of Biggles himself.

Awww! Those are both lovely. I wonder what my parents' Labrador would make of a dolphin! She's very skittish, so I don't think she'd get in the water. She doesn't know what she's missing!

I'd be seriously worried for any dog's safety if it was swimming with a dolphin.

Local aviation has been hotting up here over the past few days in a most undesirable way with serious bushfires bringing in the big guns from NSW. We are expecting 40 degrees with wind and dry lightning tomorrow which could well prove disastrous.

Looks rather worrying, Wanderer. I hope that you don't get a worst case scenario.

I read that one, too, SS, I'm sure I'd have died from the sheer shock! I, for one, will definitely be looking first!! (But please don't let this put anyone off visiting Brisbane...)

There are those who say over here that woodcock do that but nobody has ever managed to photograph it.
