How interesting! Beetles are not something that usually spring to my mind when I think of Christmastime. All of our insects have gone into hibernation due to the extreme cold we've got at the moment.

They are very pretty. I'd like to see them in a garden.

Our dogs like them in our garden - unfortunately it's not in the beetles' best interests!

That’s fantastic! A toad highway.
How does it feel to be living in the future, Australia?
It’s still 2018 (for another hour and half) back here on the flip side.

Re: Meanwhile, in Australia.....
I've had a few cars over the years that flew, although not in the literal sense - my current one certainly does! As for the world's ills, I think, sadly, that even Biggles would struggle to come to terms with them at the moment.kylie_koyote wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 3:36 amHave you got flying cars and a cure for all the world’s ills?

Wow! That's one of the more unusual things I've seen here. A wild ride.

I think I've beaten the Australians to this one, or perhaps it's so common over there that it no longer makes their news:

No, it made headlines here as well!
They just keep coming at the moment, though - here's one that'll make you very wary before you, er, sit.

That is my absolute, very worst nightmare. When we return home to Brissie from the USA I will be checking carefully, I can assure you.Sizzling Sausages wrote: ↑Wed Jan 02, 2019 9:14 pm- here's one that'll make you very wary before you, er, sit.![]()

It horrifies me to think that I never gave these sort of situations any thought when I was in Oz. I certainly will, next time.

Re: Meanwhile, in Australia.....
Where else can you have superb weather (well, 90% of the time...when we’re not having cyclones, bushfires...) harmless cuddly koalas, crazy drop bears, kindly Kangaroos alongside their boxing, gut-ripping cousins, poisoners platypuses, plate-sized spiders, most venomous snakes on the planet, crocodiles that you shouldn’t never smile at, sharks, stingers, all within cooee of endless beaches, rainforests, (both of which are most likely inhabited by any or all of the foregoing)? Ahhh, Australia, perfect one day, lethal the next.
Here you can bush walk with most of the above and swim with the rest. Definitely worth it, Kismet

And we’ll go to Lone Pine so you can see koalas, Kangaroos, platypii, pythons up close and personal. And have your pikky taken with them (some of them
).

Well, I was thinking more of you lying in the dirt and resting your head on a ‘roo...

Here's something else to consider that wasn't on RSG's list.
