Re-posting

Post by Kismet » Wed Oct 10, 2018 1:51 pm

I've put up most of the forums we had on the old forum under their usual headings so we can transfer favourite threads now.

If anyone wants a new forum, ask me here.

If anyone wants to repost something, please say here what you are copying and pasting: we don't want to waste time and effort by two people working on the same thing.

If anyone wants something re-posted and is unable to do so themselves, please ask here.

I am planning (being a flibbertigibbet) on putting a few bits everywhere.

I thought I'd start with threads without photos as it will take time to re-insert them and tackle Biggles' Reading Habits.

And now I shall move onto the Secrets of the Johns Correspondence Archives.

And pause after the first two as I can't find the images to re-insert

Have we got a gallery on this new forum yet? I can't find it if we do.

I would like to repost all my grandfather's New Guinea images and the ones from various aircraft exhibitions, but I don't need to repost personal photos and such.

I think VZ has all the pictures. It's just a matter of doing it as and when, I think.

There is no need to re-post my photos. I will take some new ones and start a new thread for them.

I'll sort out Contemporary London Flats.

I've started reposting some of the general book discussions too.

(This is kind of fun, like revisiting old friends you haven't spoken to in a couple years!)

I'm enjoying revisiting things too. I'm trying to avoid everything with photos in at the moment, but their time will come.

I've had to pause today to help build a scarecrow, but I am back now.

For the threads which have photos, for the time being I am putting a note with a link to the original post.

Once we get photo capabilities, we can revisit the issue, but I think it's more important to populate stuff and then go from there.

I've started on the Challenges. They'll keep me busy for a bit. I can do the next bit of Algy gets Married for a change. Only 103 pages to go.

Would other folks feel more comfortable about copying and pasting from the old forum if we assigned a topic?

Please let me know if you'd prefer that and either Kismet, Fairblue, or I would be happy to tell you a thread or two (or more...) that you can help with.

I've started on General Discussions > Discussions about Biggles and Co, doing one thread at a time. I am also posting across Archie's Fanfics, as RL has a somewhat relentless grip on her at the moment. The trouble is....I just can't help rereading them as I go along. I am also doing mine.

Frecks was asking on another thread how to insert photos without using the gallery. I prepared a little aide-memoire. I hope it works. If not, please let me know.

****

1. Click post reply or Full Editor & preview. You will see an attachment button below the reply box.

2. Click on that and then on 'add file'.
E898ED52-1419-4415-8F73-71D8CE94AA1E.jpeg
3. Select your photo and click done or 'add' whatever your computer or device says. (It will also tell you at that point if your photo is too big. If it is, you will have to make it smaller)

You will then see a dialogue box. In that box you will see two more boxes. See below

4. Place your cursor in the reply box at whatever point you want the photos to appear and click 'Place inline'). It will look something like this.
85F14767-4DF5-45E7-8302-83B6C0A09587.jpeg
5. Then click preview or submit.

Don’t be afraid to try it, Worst case scenario, it doesn't turn out right. In which case, delete the post and try again.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I've had a stab at reposting the "individual books" threads. It's rather fun re-reading our thoughts on them as I go.

I have now successfully moved over the entire section of "WEJ non-Biggles books".

Phew. I need a break from the computer screen for a bit.

If I'd realised how close I was to being responsible for half the posts on the forum, I'd have stayed up a little longer and copy and pasted a few more.
