Biggles pointed to the box and continued reading.

'In this box is a thing that you will need. You won't need it for quite a while, but the time will come when you do. Keep it safe and to hand so that you can open it when it is right to do so. It won't open until then and no amount of shaking will tell you what's inside. Happy Christmas, from Nicholas.'

Biggles raised his eyebrows and looked at the box. 'I'll put it in my handkerchief drawer,' he announced. 'Now, we've just time for an aperitif at Le Chat Noir before lunch. Come on, everyone. Chop, chop.'
