This was a relief to Biggles, for he had been concerned about what a drunken genie might want to do, but he thought that he'd better alternate soft drinks with the other stuff himself.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

What Biggles failed to notice was that Father Genie rather generously topped up each of Biggles' soft drinks with a hearty dose of rum from a bottle the genie kept in his coat pocket.

Fortunately, Algy walked in at that moment.

He grinned and turned to Father Genie. "He's not very good at holding his drink," he remarked. "Let's get him home and I'll take you out."

Algy lasted a few rounds, until the Saints and Sinners Night Club in fact, from where father genie kindly transported him home. He remained himself. He liked the lights and the dancing and the brightly coloured drinks with fruit and straws in.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

Genies, it seemed, had a very high alcohol tolerance.

Genies also enjoyed dancing. Rather wildly. Father genie was soon the centre of much attention and making lots of new friends. Indiscriminately.

He wasn't aware that the latest instalment of the increasingly popular reality show, "Night Life in London" was being filmed at Saints and Sinners that night.

As father genie became more relaxed, his disguise flickered. His trousers became silkier and baggier. His shirt became an open waistcoat.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

A bejewelled turban suddenly appeared at a rather rakish angle on his head.

He decided to join the dancers on the dance floor.

His gyrations and evolving costume quick,y made him the focus of the TV crew who homed their cameras in on this unexpected bonus.

The dance floor was rather crowded so he summoned his carpet and danced on that, above the heads of the throng.

Suddenly silence reigned supreme. Even Father Genie noticed the change.

He wondered why it had gone quiet. Had something broken? He summoned some traditional Arabic music as he didn't like the silence.

The TV producers couldn't believe their luck. This would be a ratings bonanza.

Father genie danced. Sometimes he let a pretty girl dance on his carpet with him, but he knew what Mother genie would do to him if he overstepped the mark so mainly he danced alone.

Meanwhile, back at Mount Street, the female members of the genie family had emerged from the lamp and expressed their desire to watch some current TV shows. They'd done some research and thought a reality show would be very educational.

"'Night Life in London'" Jeannie suggested. "That sounds quite interesting."
Algy', who hadn't gone to bed when dropped off by Father Genie, agreed. It could be anything from following a London Underground worker on his job to a documentary on a Night Club. He switched the TV on and they settled down to watch.

Within moments the coffee Algy was drinking had been spluttered all over himself.

There was a long drawn out 'oooh,' from the girls. Algy grabbed onto the nearest as she transported herself to Saints and Sinners, yelling for Biggles as he did so. Biggles, awakened abruptly, stumbled through to an empty living room. One glance at the tv told him of the problem.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

One of Jeannie's brothers popped out of the lamp, wanting to know what the hubbub was about.

Biggles grabbed him and pointed at the tv. 'We need to get there, now,'

He was taken at his word. Too late did he realise he was only in his pyjamas.

Fortunately their abrupt arrival at Saints and Sinners was unnoticed by the camera crew. Algy looked at Biggles' attire with raised eyebrows. Biggles shrugged. But as he looked around, he realised his wardrobe malfunction was unlikely to attract any attention, given the wild variety of clothing, or lack thereof, displayed before him.
