All those cigarettes would have helped keep the weight off .

You are so right, ST. I was in France recently and surprised at the slender population. Almost all the very large folk were Brits and Americans. The French just don't snack.Simon Templar wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:40 pmThere's a factor that no one's really touched on yet: the human body is actually quite good at regulating itself. You need the unholy alliance of both not exercising at all AND stuffing your face with saturated rubbish to really take a toll on your body. I barely exercised for my last year of university, but because I ate decently I didn't get fat.
Sure, Biggles would have smoked and wouldn't have got that much exercise per se, but in the days before fast food and delivery pizza, that wouldn't have mattered that much. Yeah, there obviously were fat people, but it was a lot harder to get fat. He certainly wouldn't have had a six pack, but I doubt he would have been fat either. He would probably have a "dad bod" honestly - not overweight, but certainly not an Adonis of a man either.

Biggles et al were simply of sterner stock methinks.
Same goes for Bond, what most certainly would’ve killed some soft pencil pusher 40 times over simply made 007 dig deeper and get on with it.
Tough times don’t last, tough people do.
