Algy updated him. Bertie sketched a bow. "Your Majesty," he murmured, his eyes twinkling.

'Proper bended knee when you address me,' Algy retorted. 'None of these half measures.'
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

I'm bowing, not curtseying, " Bertie pointed out hotly.

Algy found a YouTube video. 'Like that,' he showed Bertie.
'Like this?' Bertie demonstrated in a much exaggerated fashion. Algy recorded him. This would make a great gif.

“On a more serious note, O kingly one,” said Bertie in his plummiest tones, “Do you think we’re rid of the conniving Clara and devious Dicky?”

'I hope so,' Algy said. He had no grounds for this view, but he was bored of Clara and his leg was aching.

Unfortunately for Algy, he discovered that both Clara and Dicky had been released. Clara's very expensive lawyer had managed to get the charges dropped and they were released. It was all a misunderstanding; a lover's Tiff that had got out of hand.

Biggles arrived back at the flat, fuming. "That woman's lawyer knows someone who knows someone," he swore savagely. "Our witness statements have been declared unacceptable."

"Well, I'm definitely not marrying her," Algy declared hotly. "I wonder if the researcher will turn up anything?"

Meanwhile Dicky and Clara were plotting their next move.
'All we have to do is to lure that Lacey boy somewhere remote so he has to spend the night provably with you,' Dicky mused. 'I know you want the big wedding, but all we need is him to spend the night with you and then we can get access to all the document and the treasure of King John will be ours.'

"What's worrying me," Clara mused,"is his suggestion that it might be the Lissies who have the documents. Highly unlikely, I know, but I'd look a fool if I attached myself to the Lacey family and it wasn't him who had it. I think we'd better do a little more digging."

'How are you going to do that?' Dicky asked? 'Do we know anyone who would know? Let's sort out a trap for young Algernon but not spring it until we know a bit more about the Lissie situation.'

He looked slyly at her. "Perhaps you should find out if the Lissies have a young scion of the house lying around. Be prepared, you know."

'Bertie,' she replied briefly, 'but he doesn't like women. I know some of his cousins.'

Clara looked thoughtful. She loved a good challenge and she thought that Bertie might be even more of one than Algy. It might be fun if she began playing one off against the other, she mused.

She picked up her phone. "I'll set the ball rolling. I don't know where he's staying while he's in London, but I'll find out."

'They live together,' she reported, a few conversations later. 'Lacey and Lissie live together. Now does that mean inside knowledge or did he throw it out as a distraction?'

Dicky had also been busy on the phone and had found out more background information on Bertie and Algy through his extensive network of informants.

"They're something to do with Scotland Yard," he said. "Did you know that?"

"I only found out last night," she said bitterly. "If they're flatmates Algy will already have told Bertie everything there is to know.I doubt if I can work on him now."

"So what's our next move?" asked Dicky, showing that Clara was the real brains behind their current scheme. "We need to get our hands on the other half of the document. How are we going to find out if it's in the possession of the Laceys or the Lissies?"

"I'll hire a researcher. And I suppose I'd better try and make contact with Bertie. Just to test the water. You never know. He might be glad to think someone would have him. He's got to leave that ancestral pile of his to someone."

'You think of a way to get Lacey and Lissie to that remote island you own. Get your nanny to ring up to say there's a bank robbing castaway on it and you need the Special Air Police to pick him up.' Clara ordered. 'I'm going to meet Roberta and Adelberta Lissie to find out more about their cousin's habits.'

Against Bertie’s better judgement, he found himself inviting Roberta and Adelberta to tea with Algy and Biggles so they could discuss the potential of using Bertie as bait for Clara. Unfortunately, for Bertie they saw the whole situation as an absolute wheeze and were all up for any suggestions to assist in thwarting her.

Biggles also suspected they'd quite like to make Bertie blush a few times along the way. he wasn't sure of the wisdom of involving them having met them, but he thought they might come in useful.
