"Algy did."Cleopatra will be charging me for this," he remarked as he finished the roll.

There was a bang against the window. Cleopatra and Caratacus had appropriated the gardener's ladder.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

The vision of loveliness moved quickly and ensured the window catches were firmly in place. She smiled innocently at the indignant twins, and with her back to the other occupants of the room, poked out her tongue.

She closed the curtains on them.

Dickpa had inspected the contents of his box, and was now removing certain of the items used by the children to templify the room and adding them to the crate.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

"I still don't understand how those things could be a threat to our national security," complained Algy as he watched.

"Ssh," Dickpa hushed him and carried on with what he was doing.

Algy glanced at Biggles. But Biggles' was watching his uncle with increasing fascination.

Dickpa was quite definitely filling the box with the rubbish collected by Algy's relative on his grand tour.

Algy frowned. He looked again at Biggles who remained absorbed in watching his uncle. Raymond and his niece were also watching intently. Lord Lacey had also begun picking up items, examining them and either replacing them or adding them to Dickpa's box.

"Who are you?" Algy asked as he watched his father. "And what have you done with my father?"

Once again, Algy was hushed. Eventually, it became clear that everyone involved in putting items into the box agreed that the box had everything it should, and nothing it shouldn't.

"Is it a puzzle?" Algy demanded, getting bored with the proceedings and a little nettled with not getting answers from his father.

'Yes," replied Dickpa reverently as he closed the box. "It's possibly one of the greatest puzzles of the ancient world. And it must remain so."

"You mean you're not going to try to solve it?" Biggles cried. "How do you know that's what you should be doing?"

It was some sort of trap, Biggles realised. The items which had gone in were not the ones which Cleo and Caratacus had removed. He wondered who would make their move first.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

The vision of loveliness casually picked up one item. “I might as well toss this useless bit in the scrap box then,” she said.

The wardrobe doors opened, revealing Cleopatra and Caratacus.

'We had to go all the way through Narnia from the other wardrobe to get back here,' Cleopatra stated in accusatory tones.

She looked at the prisoner who had been watching the proceedings from his seat on the floor, handcuffed to the radiator. "Why haven't you shot him yet, Uncle Biggles?" she demanded.

'I might need my bullets to shoot someone else,' Biggles suggested. Cleo looked around the room, her lips moving as if she was counting, and nodded. This was a reasonable answer.

"Are you sure you two shouldn't be back in Narnia helping sort out the kingdom?" asked Biggles. But his sarcasm was lost on the twins.

'Would you like us to mobilise the Narnian army?' Caratacus asked hopefully. 'I've always wanted to see them at war.'

'You'll drop that, Cleopatra said to Miss Raymond, removing the piece from her hand and stepping back out of reach. 'It goes up here. It's part of the magical sarcophagus.'

Dickpa looked up sharply. "Does it? Er...have we got anything else wrong?"

Biggles was now confused. He'd presumed that Dickpa had been deliberately filling his box with the tat brought back by Algy's Lacey relative from his Grand Tour, in the expectation that one of the people crowding the room would make an attempt on it and he didn't want to risk losing the real items. Now he wondered if Dickpa knew what the contents should look like, or if Cleopatra and Caratacus were the only people who did.

He took Dickpa to one side and asked him.

Algy. the vision of blonde loveliness who was related to Raymond, Raymond, Lord Lacey, Cleopatra, Caratacus, Babington and Babington's daughter all tried to hear what Biggles was asking Dickpa.
'Major Bigglesworth,' said von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'
