Re: Somebody's very keen.

Another seller tried to sell a very similar condition Hamilton COTC in a slightly better DJ in December 2018 for a slightly lower price than this seller is asking. I’m not sure if it sold or not. Back in 2013 one of these sold for GBP1250, it had a near perfect DJ. Its marvelous what extra value a g...

Re: Just curious....

Some excellent rare editions for your collection there SS, congratulations.

I would hope that the BFL version of Biggles Flies Again still has the appropriate aircraft types referenced in the story “Three Weeks” rather than the horrible editing done to the later versions.

Re: Books - which to buy?

Biggles Makes Ends Meet is one of my favorite later books. It has me laughing out loud at Bertie's antics (it also features the Nicobar Islands which have been in the news a bit lately). Biggles Goes to War which is set between the 2 World Wars is also a great read and has some good flying action. B...

Re: Who Reads the Papers?

There is at least 1 very unusual bit of editing in relation to newspapers and Biggles stories. In the book Biggles Charter Pilot the story ‘The Adventure of the Golden Shirts’ Johns wrote “Ginger tossed the mutilated newspaper into the waste-paper basket”. However, when that story was published in B...

Re: Reproduction Dust Jackets

I have used a variety of papers to make the covers. I found that standard 80 - 90 gsm (the regular printer paper) to be the best. Thicker/stiffer paper is harder to bend in the appropriate place. I did try to source acid free paper if I was going to place it around a valuable book but then I found t...

Reproduction Dust Jackets

There are at least 2 organisations currently (Oct 2018) making reasonable quality reproduction Dust Jackets with a good range of WEJ titles in their collection. https://www.dustjackets.com/ or http://www.barelyreadbooks.co.uk/replica-dustwrappers-covers Another company currently has a smaller range ...

Re: Advice for selling Biggles books

Sorry Sizzling Sausages for almost getting credit for your post of that link  , I see Mandy has already corrected that error. Yes Archie is on this forum. You will probably need to send a PM to establish contact. Many of us can give you an idea of what titles to look at in more detail. Could I ...

Re: Advice for selling Biggles books

Sorry, in my previous post I did not answer a couple of your questions. To the best of my knowledge both abebooks.com and biblio.com are for professional booksellers. Selling them to an antiquarian bookshop is by far the most simplest method for yourself but as you have guessed it is by a long way t...

Re: Advice for selling Biggles books

Hi Mandy, Welcome to the Biggles forum. As Sizzling Sausages stated your small sample of books is very interesting and are of value. If I can be of any help please let me know. I live in Perth WA and travel extensively in the South West. I also know of some WE Johns collectors in Canberra and Victor...
