The hardback also has a reduced size facsimile of Johns' hand-written first chapter, and an added short Introduction for the new edition.

Re: Meanwhile, in Australia.....

I think I've beaten the Australians to this one, or perhaps it's so common over there that it no longer makes their news: No, it made headlines here as well! They just keep coming at the moment, though - here's one that'll make you very wary before you, er, sit. :-) https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au...

Have you got flying cars and a cure for all the world’s ills?
I've had a few cars over the years that flew, although not in the literal sense - my current one certainly does! As for the world's ills, I think, sadly, that even Biggles would struggle to come to terms with them at the moment. :nono:

How does it feel to be living in the future, Australia?

It’s still 2018 (for another hour and half) back here on the flip side.
Oh yes, we're always ahead of the pack!

Re: Why was 'The Boy Biggles' given a far larger publication than most of the other later books?

It would be to do with it being a Dean & Sons 'budget' original, rather than coming out through Hodder or Brockhampton. Flies to Work was the same - interestingly, neither of these were published in paperback at the time. That didn't happen until the House of Stratus editions many years later.

I've managed to get two of these now - it seems there were about 20. The ones I have aren't based on any of the stories and are pretty ordinary.

You're welcome! A first of Cruise of the Condor is a fine thing indeed. To be doubly sure, our own Dr Biggles's site is also a must. He's got a whole piece on this at:

It took me 4 goes before I got one I could even attempt to read, and even then I had to guess half of it. These things are always a pain, but this is the most difficult one I've ever seen!
I suppose we can take it as character building... ;)
