Re: Algy gets Married. A never-ending rpg part 8

There was the sound of voices outside the curtains, so Bertie and his escort looked out to observe the nurses and a group of white coats congregating at the far end of the triage area.

Re: The Weather

We've just had some sleet that turned into snow - and some areas were still frosty from last night. The gritters have been out ! And we have been feeding "our" birds (seeds, peanuts, dried mealworms and fatballs) ... plus melting the ice in their bath / drinking water. (I'll change that water tomorr...

Re: Algy gets Married. A never-ending rpg part 8

Bertie was looking at his phone in disappointment, when the nurse was heard expostulating to another patient. Bertie's escort looked at him "Stay there, I'll go and see what that's all about"

Re: Currently Reading, Not Biggles

Oh, and my current non-Biggles reading is the Aubrey-Maturin cycle. Listening to part of the Radio4 adaptation set me off again. Specifically, The Wine Dark Sea. (the description sounds like the after affects of a volcanic eruption). I had read most of the preceding book "Clarissa Oakes" whilst sitt...

Re: Currently Reading, Not Biggles

One thing about "dope" I know is that cattle find it almost irresistibly sweet. A friend used to fly a canvas glider, and one day another of the owning syndicate landed out in a field. He went from what was a field empty of livestock to fins a phone to call in their support crew. When they all got b...

Re: Christmas in Mount Street - Reposted.

"Guys ... GUYS !" he called "cut the noise and let Elphino do his report. Maybe we can party afterwards, if there is time"

The music diminished to a quiet background melody and the boys tiptoed out, leaving Elphino and his quill hard at work.

Quickly followed by "Tannenbaum" to which Elphino started to murmur some alternative words, causing Bertie to splutter.

Oh, very well done - both the concept and building to completion.

I'm not a puzzler, but I might make an exception for one of those ...
but I had better stay out for the moment.

Re: The Weather

Our NYD dawned ... and turned out to be bright sun, wonderfully clear air, crisp but not too cold. I had rather a lot on my mind, so was distracted by being taken for Brunch to a place in Portinscale that is Dog friendly. We stopped off in Cockermouth on the way back so I had enough mobile signal to...

Re: Algy gets Married. A never-ending rpg part 8

"He looks too posh to be a terrorist" the daughter whispered back

Bertie overheard that "Oh I say !" was his only comment, as his escort tried, and mostly failed, to keep a straight face,

Re: Biggles and the Fast Track Trainee

Finally, Sister appeared. After a further few minutes "discussion" Biggles agreed to take the pills, but only after he extracted a promise for a text to be sent to Algy straight away with the information he had remembered. Once the Sister saw the text to be sent she understood the urgency and produc...

Re: Biggles and the Fast Track Trainee

He half sat up, and resting on one elbow, searched the top of his locker and the drawer, followed by the tray table and under his pillows.
Finding neither his phone, nor pen & paper in all these places, he gave up and pressed the nurse call button.

Biggles came back, with a finger to his lips.
Suddenly, in the now quiet room, his phone pinged to tell him he had an email.
He looked, it was from Mrs Christmas.

Re: Christmas in Mount Street - Reposted.

Ginger disappeared to his room, and on his return route checked something in the bathroom.
"Ok, Elphino, will normal hair dye cover your efforts ?" He offered the packets which he had used in his recent Indian Princess disguise and the one for getting back his own colour afterwards.
