Re: The Weather

We are due to get a “wicked big storm” Saturday night into Sunday. Thankfully Monday is a holiday here so it should have minimal impact. They keep changing the forecast but for now we are supposed to get anywhere between 6 and 14 inches of snow. I just hope the power stays on. Some of you may recall...

Re: Ginger Fans

Biggles continues trying to protect Ginger from seeing yucky things, even as late as In Australia.

It’s really quite sweet.

Re: Unlikely Lines to Read in a Biggles Book

“Package for you, Mr Hebblethwaite,” said the constable, handing over a small box. Ginger took it with a murmur of thanks. After the door closed he turned to Algy and Biggles as he opened the box. “I’ve ordered those little DNA kits for both of you. It’s time to find out exactly how the two of you a...

Re: Swelling my collection!

Happy collecting! You can get good job-lots on eBay quite frequently, so keep your eyes open. For duplicate titles, offhand I can think of: Air Commodore / secret mission Breaks the silence / in Antarctica Sweeps the Desert / Defends the Desert Also some of the short stories, particularly the WW1 sh...

Re: Ginger Fans

Oh yes! I love both of those!
Ginger shines in both of them. He really does well in all the inter-war books. It’s only in the later SAP stories that he fades a bit.

Re: Perimeter Fencing

We had a small "mom & pop" airfield near us that has recently closed up shop after 98 years of operation. It had a chain-link fence that ran around the edge. It wasn't very high. I used to take Little A when he was a toddler to just sit in or next to the car (depending on the temperature) and watch ...

Try a Google Image search, Frecks. I turned up these two images with just a quick one. One is Feltham, the other is Cramlington.

Biggles Book of Treasure Hunting

I bought myself a fairly reasonably priced (that's what I'm telling myself!) copy of the Biggles Book of Treasure Hunting on eBay and it came on Saturday. :claphappy: :claphappy: Treasure Hunting Cover.jpg Anyway, I've only read the first couple pages, but this bit about Biggles and his scrapbooks w...

Re: Biggles Travel Bingo

I can now check off "Frozen Lake" off my own Bingo card (as indeed, I have just done.) We're a bit milder this winter than usual, but we had a stretch of cold days recently where the temperature never got above freezing, even at midday, so our lake and also the Charles River have frozen over. Lake_1...

Ah ha!

This article says redheads look, on average, two years younger than they really are.

There is a scientific reason Ginger doesn’t age properly!

Re: A Biggles movie revival?

The one that we discussed on the old forum, that was a prospective TV series, rather than a feature film. It's this one: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6975788/?ref_=nv_sr_5 It was/is being written by this company: http://www.ravenousfilmworks.com/ I have a cousin who's got professional access and he ...

Ew!

We have a problem with deer ticks and Lyme Disease here. No surprise really, since these chaps are regular backyard visitors:

The little girl next door had a bout with Lyme Disease a couple years ago and still tires easily, poor thing. We check Little A religiously.

Wow, SS, that's really cool. Mr. KK is an aerospace engineer and I just showed it to him. He was very interested. We are not that awake yet (it's not quite 7am) but that made both of us go "wow!"

Muswell, I can't read it without a subscription. Can you please give me some more info?

Is this possibly related to the Biggles TV series which we discussed on the old forum?

Glad I could help! I ask a lot of questions about the meaning of certain phrases myself, as the American and British terms don't always line up exactly.

Re: Biggles in Africa

I am also under the impression that when Biggles says something about running a care home for inebriates, he is inferring that Algy and Ginger were late to wake up and get ready because they were, perhaps, *slightly* hungover.
