Re: Xenol's Antarctic Wimpy - Biggles Breaks the Silence

Wow, what a delay! Work had been a bit oppressive of late, combined with other factors means I've not been able to spend much time on this as I had hoped. Made a proper start today though. If you're a purist you might want to look away, in the interests of convenience I am taking some liberties rega...

Is he revisiting Biggles too, or is it a first?
He never read them in his youth, I've persuaded him to give them a go

Re: Ginger Fans

Just finished reading 'Biggles In Spain' – Should have Ginger in Spain, lots of great moments. I like the part where we gets chased by a 'decapod'/octapus across a beach in 'Air Commodore', classic bit of WEJ's overactive imagination haha

Swelling my collection!

Had the excitement last night of opening a recent ebay purchase –– 18 red-fox edition books for as many pounds! Quite the bargain in my eyes. I knew there was some duplicates to what I already owned, however I didn't mind, since my current edition of Biggles & Co is falling apart. I hadn't realised ...

Thanks a lot Xenol for this great work !! I have finished reading Goes to war about a week ago. It's nice to have an idea of what the planes could be like!
I'm glad you like! I had hoped to be doing more of these, but my laptop died last weekend so I'm without my design software for the meanwhile

Re: Xenol's Antarctic Wimpy - Biggles Breaks the Silence

Thanks for the kind words chaps - The kit has been washed, but I'm waiting on the arrival of my new airbrush-pump before I start in earnest. The kit seems very nicely moulded, however I'd say there's almost TOO MUCH internal detailing, the majority of which will never be seen. I'm probably going to ...

This is exactly the kind of subtlety that I still find hard to catch when reading in English
Not helped by the fact that the writing is at times... somewhat archaic. Even as an Englishman I double take every time one of the crew 'ejaculates' but that's just me being childish.

Xenol's Antarctic Wimpy - Biggles Breaks the Silence

I highly doubt I'll finish this project before the February deadline, however I thought I'd have a go nonetheless. I have elected to build one of the Vickers Wellingtons used by Biggles under the guise of government research aircraft in 'Biggles Breaks the Silence'. I thought that this would be a go...

Re: Biggles Air Police group build 2018/19 discussion.

I think I have left it a bit late for this build before Feb is out I'm afraid. If I had the space/money, I'd probably make the Arctic Research Wellington from 'Breaks the Silence'. I picture it white with dayglo orange identification markings. Sometimes one has to groan at WEJ's love big aircraft in...

Re: The Top Biggles Books (the ultimate poll)

Don't know if I really deserve to take the poll at this time, since the number I have read is still so low, I still haven't got round to acquiring some of the popular favourites (Flies East, Fails to Return, etc). I'm surprised to see some of the favourites I've read don't seem to receive as much lo...

Re: Biggles Goes to War – Aircraft

He is in the Fokker day bomber "acquired" by Biggles. It bears a strong resemblance to a Fokker CX, which would have been in production at about the right time. You know, I've looked at that image a few times when doing my designs and it's never twigged it was supposed to be the two-seater! In my m...

Biggles Goes to War – Aircraft

Hi All, I've been coming up with some concepts of how the various aircraft in the book 'Biggles Goes to War' may have looked. As I'm sure you know no single real aircraft is mentioned by name in this novel, so I've either substituted or created my own designs. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4817/455...
