Re: Open Cockpit Weekend.

Aarg! The events tab is coming up empty... I gather that "open cockpit" refers to the museum displays? DC3 joyflights sounds good. I've been meaning to do a Melbourne run for a while, so this might be the excuse I need. Thanks for posting it up. Moorabbin looks like the Melbourne equivalent of Banks...

Re: Meanwhile, in Australia.....

All true. Number 9 - in all seriousness - I broke my leg (downhill skating) on Australia day a couple of years back and I still have a burn scar about an inch in diameter from my leg lying in contact with the road because I couldn't move it. I also have a scar from where my tibia was poking out but ...

Re: The Weather

This weather is getting really worrying. I suppose it is all connected to climate change. Yeah.....it's almost like the ranks upon ranks of scientists who have been warning humanity about it for more than 40 years (actually, the science of it is over 100 years old and pretty basic Physics really) w...

Enough about whitetails for the moment, here is another hazard for foreigners travelling to Australia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zkLZJg4u9s Yeah nah, deffo don't want that happening ay. Re: Meanwhile, in Australia.....

I'll definitely join the Anti-White Tails club. Instant kill whenever I see them. I came face to face with one whilst picking limes from the back of the tree a while back. I had one on the bed once about two feet away fully rear up and run straight AT me! No exaggeration. Front legs up, running ful...

Re: Meanwhile, in Australia.....

I hate white tails. I hadn't seen one in a long time then last night sitting on the couch a dirty big one crawled out and marched past my feet. Big one it was. I'm inclined to get a fumigator in. Reddies I don't mind so much because they hide away in their webs in dark crannies but whitetails are ma...

Excellent! I concur with other suggestions that a bit of weathering would add a whole extra dimension.

I just realised the Bentley isn't in the photo - I must have forgotten to return it after rearranging to fit the Sundy.

Anyway, it's this one:

Re: VV's Air Police Sunderland **Finished**

Thanks foolscap, 266 :-) I love the little cars on the shelves as well. Which of the cars in the books do they represent? They are all Oxford diecast 1/72 models. Next to Stella's white Falcon there is a Bentley "blower" 3.5L which would surely have to be what Johns had in mind for Biggles' Bentley ...

Re: VV's Air Police Sunderland **Finished**

Thanks Frecks, KK.

There's still a lot of space for WW1 and interwar models but it is admittedly getting a little tight on the Air Police shelf....though I reckon I can still squeeze a couple more in
I've actually rearranged it now so the Sunderland has swapped places with the Wellington.

Thanks everyone :-) I'me definitely happy with how it turned out. I'm glad I kept the panel highlighting and exhaust staining subtle - it would have been very easy to go overboard. Re: VV's Air Police Sunderland

I am an idiot! That large section in the top of the canopy is supposed to be painted, not masked off! The canopy and turrets came up well, though now I need to re-mask and spray the canopy to get that part right. Fortunately the masking is extremely simple but I'm worried that it could pull o...

Thanks for offer Tiffinata. Expect a knock at your door sometime soon. Perhaps just ...

Re: VV's Air Police Sunderland

Thanks, KK :-) The whole aircraft has been weathered the same way (no small task... ) and the decals applied. Props are painted too and we're on the home stretch. My phone camera isn't sensitive enough to show the weathering since, as mentioned, I kept it subtle. https://lh3.googleuserconten...

Thanks, Xen :-) Once the canopy and porthole windows are on, pretty much all of it will be invisible anyway I'm sure  I have barely been home since Christmas time but now I'm back I'm chugging along again. The underside of the hull and floats have been painted and I masked off and painted t...
